Doctors sued for failing to diagnose probable malignant mass

When a patient is suffering from an illness, it is very important that doctors provide him or her with a prompt and correct diagnosis. This is especially the case when it comes to cancer and similar conditions, as early detection can be essential to effective treatment. Recently, in West Virginia, a woman sued two doctors and a radiology company for failing to diagnose a probable malignant mass.

The case involves a woman from Huntington, West Virginia. The defendants reportedly provided care to the woman on October 17, 2007 and November 25, 2008.

The woman claims that the care that she was given on these two occasions was negligent. Specifically she claims that the defendants failed to correctly diagnose a probable malignant mass located on her right breast. She also claims that the defendants failed to recommend further tests. She argues that because of these errors, she eventually had to undergo a mastectomy. The woman filed a medical negligence lawsuit against the defendants earlier this month.

A diagnosis of cancer or a related condition is a scary thing. However, if a person is suffering from such a condition, it is best that they receive a correct diagnosis as quickly as possible. The sooner a malignant mass is detected, the sooner it can be treated. Conversely, if such a mass goes undetected, it can grow in its severity and have a serious impact on a patient.

Thus, when a doctor negligently fails to properly diagnose a patient's condition, it can be very harmful. One hopes that all medical professionals and heath facilities are doing everything they can to avoid this type of medical error. If a person believes that a medical professional negligently failed to give them a correct diagnosis, they should consider speaking to a qualified medical malpractice attorney.
