Lawsuit alleges Connecticut boy lost eyesight due to medical negligence

It is very important for medical professionals to not act negligently when it comes to the examining, testing and diagnosing of a patient. Diagnosis-related negligence by medical professionals can cause patients to suffer harms. Such harms can have significant impacts on a patient's life. No patient should have to suffer harm because a medical professional failed to act properly.

Recently, a case involving allegations of diagnosis-related negligence has arisen in Connecticut. The case involves a boy from Tolland, Connecticut who reportedly received care from a pediatrician in 2009.

The boy's family claims that this pediatrician acted negligently while providing care to the boy and that this negligence resulted in the pediatrician failing to diagnose bacterial meningitis that the boy suffered from. According to the boy's family, this alleged negligent failure to diagnose led to a delay in the boy's bacterial meningitis being detected and this delay, in turn, resulted in the boy suffering a variety of harms, including loss of his eyesight.

According to the article on the Hartford Courant's website which reported this story, the boy's family has brought a lawsuit in a court in Hartford, Connecticut against the above-mentioned pediatrician in connection to these allegations. One wonders what will ultimately happen in this case.

As the allegations in this Connecticut medical malpractice case underscore, patients can suffer great harm when medical professionals commit diagnosis-related negligence. Thus, one hopes that all medical professionals make sure to act properly when it comes to the examining, testing and diagnosing of patients.
