Woman claims she was the victim of diagnosis-related negligence

No patient should have to be exposed to diagnosis-related negligence. When a medical professional or hospital acts negligently while testing, examining or diagnosing a patient, it can result in a delay occurring in a condition a patient suffers from being accurately diagnosed. Such delays can be very harmful, particularly when the medical condition in question is cancer.

Recently, a case involving allegations of a failure to properly diagnose cancer has arisen in Illinois. The case involves a woman who reportedly underwent a mammography at a hospital in Illinois in January of 2009.

The woman claims that the results of this mammography were not read properly and that this alleged negligence resulted in breast cancer the woman had not being detected at that time. Reportedly, the woman's breast cancer was eventually detected in February of 2010. The woman claims that this alleged delay in the detection of her breast cancer has caused her a variety of serious harms.

The woman and her husband have brought a lawsuit in a court in Illinois in connection to these allegations. Two doctors and the above-mentioned hospital have been named as defendants in this lawsuit. In this lawsuit, the woman and her husband reportedly are asking for damages.

No patient should have to suffer harm because a medical professional or hospital committed diagnosis-related negligence. Thus, one hopes that medical professionals and hospitals are held accountable when they commit negligence like that alleged in this case. One also hopes that all hospitals and medical professionals make sure to not act negligently when it comes to the examining, testing and diagnosing of patients.
