Family accuses urgent care facility of diagnosis-related negligence

No patient should have to be subjected to diagnosis-related negligence. Such negligence can be very harmful. A negligent misdiagnosis or a negligent failure to diagnose can sometimes even lead to a patient's death.

Recently, a wrongful death case has arisen in Pennsylvania involving allegations of diagnosis-related negligence. The case involves a man who reportedly received care at an urgent care facility in Pennsylvania on Dec. 16, 2010. Reportedly, the man died two days later.

The man's family claims that the urgent care facility acted negligently in regards to the man's care and that this alleged negligence resulted in a heart condition the man had not being correctly diagnosed. The man's family further alleges that this alleged misdiagnosis contributed to the man's eventual death.

A wrongful death lawsuit has been brought by the man's family in a court in Pennsylvania against the urgent care facility in connection to these allegations. According to the article on the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's website which reported this story, the man's family is asking for damages in this lawsuit. It will be interesting to see what happens in this case.

As the allegations in this wrongful death case underscore, diagnosis-related negligence by medical professionals and/or medical facilities can sometimes have fatal results. Thus, one hopes that all medical professionals and medical facilities make sure to act properly when it comes to the diagnosing of patients. One also hopes that medical professionals and medical facilities are held accountable when they commit diagnosis-related negligence and such negligence results in a patient's death.
