Two lawsuits accuse pharmacy of prescription-related negligence

Individuals can suffer great harm when pharmacies negligently commit prescription errors (such as messing up the dose of a medication) when filling prescriptions. Thus, it is very important for pharmacies to make sure to not act negligently when it comes to filling prescriptions.

A pair of cases has arisen in Washington involving allegations of prescription-related negligence. The cases involve a pharmacy in Washington. Two families have accused the pharmacy of having negligently given the wrong dose of a medication when filling prescriptions.

One of these families claims that, last January, a child in their family was negligently given the wrong dose of an anti-seizure medication by the pharmacy. This family alleges that their child suffered a variety of harms as a result of this alleged negligence, including insomnia, convulsions and hallucinations.

The other family alleges that the pharmacy, on two occasions (once in 2009 and once in 2011), negligently gave a child in their family the wrong dose of a medication. According to the family, this alleged negligence resulted in their child suffering dizziness and hallucinations in the first incident and becoming sick in the second.

The two families have each brought a lawsuit against the pharmacy in connection to these allegations. In their lawsuits, the families reportedly are asking for damages.

No individual should have to be exposed to prescription-related negligence like that alleged in these two cases. Thus, one hopes that pharmacies are held accountable when they commit negligence in regards to the filling of a prescription and such negligence results in a harmful prescription error occurring.
