Man brings lawsuit alleging diagnosis-related negligence

No patient should have to be subjected to diagnosis-related negligence. Thus, it is very important for medical professionals and medical facilities to act properly when it comes to the examining, testing and diagnosing of patients.

Recently, a medical malpractice case involving allegations of diagnosis-related negligence has arisen in Virginia. The case involves a man who received care at a hospital in Virginia in September 2010.

The man alleges that, during the course of this care, the hospital and its staff committed negligent actions, including: failing to act properly in regards to medical testing and failing to timely diagnose a condition the man suffered from. The condition in question was an aortic dissection.

Allegedly, the alleged negligence resulted in there being a delay in the detection and treatment of the aortic dissection. According to the man, this delay caused him to suffer serious harms, including having to have one of his legs amputated.

The man has brought a medical malpractice lawsuit in a court in Virginia against two doctors and the above-mentioned hospital in connection to these allegations. The article on the Daily Progress' website which reported this story did not mention what specific relief is being asked for in this lawsuit. It will be interesting to see what ultimately happens in this case.

As the allegations in this case underscore, patients can suffer great harm when they are subjected to diagnosis-related negligence. Thus, one hopes that medical professionals and medical facilities are held accountable when they engage in negligence like that alleged in this case.
