Wrongful death lawsuit brought in connection to alleged prescription error

No patient should have to be subjected to prescription-related negligence. When a medical professional acts negligently in relation to a patient's prescription, it can result in prescription errors occurring. Such errors can cause a great deal of harm. Prescription errors can sometimes even result in a patient's death. Thus, one hopes that medical professionals make sure to act properly when it comes to the prescriptions of patients and are held accountable when they commit harmful prescription-related negligence.

Recently, a wrongful death case has arisen involving an alleged prescription error. The case is from Ohio. The case involves a man who died on March 30, 2012. The man's family claims that the man was the victim of prescription-related negligence.

Reportedly, in March 2012, a doctor at a hospital in Ohio prescribed the man a blood thinner in connection to a condition he was suffering from (deep vein thrombosis).

The man's family claims that two nurses then committed negligence in relation to this prescription. The alleged negligence reportedly occurred when the nurses were calling the prescription in to a pharmacy. According to the man's family, the dosage the two nurses specified when calling in the prescription was higher than the dosage the doctor had specified in the prescription.

According to the man's family, this alleged prescription-related negligence led to the man taking too high of a dose of blood thinner, which in turn resulted in his death.

A lawsuit has been brought by the man's family in connection to these allegations. The man's family is asking for damages in this lawsuit. One wonders what will happen in this case and how it will ultimately be resolved.
