Settlement reached in case involving misdiagnosis allegations

Recently, a medical malpractice case that involved allegations of diagnosis-related negligence was settled. The case was from another state.

The case centered on the care a woman received at a health center of a university in Ohio in 2007. The woman alleged that, during this care, she was negligently misdiagnosed. According to the woman, this alleged diagnosis-related negligence resulted in her eventually having to get her right shoulder blade, shoulder and arm amputated.

The woman brought a lawsuit against the university in connection to these allegations. Recently, the woman and the university reached a settlement which settled this lawsuit and a couple of others that the woman had brought. The settlement did not include any admissions of wrongdoing by the university. Under the terms of the settlement, the university will make a monetary payment to the woman.

While this case was from another state, the allegations that were made in it underscore a point that is worth noting here in Connecticut. This point is that diagnosis-related negligence can be extremely harmful. Thus, one hopes that all medical professionals and medical facilities make sure to act properly when it comes to the diagnosing of patients. No patient should have to be subjected to harmful diagnosis-related negligence.

If a person has been hurt by a mistake by a medical professional or a medical facility, there may be options available to them to seek financial relief for the harms they have suffered. One option medical negligence victims sometimes pursue to seek relief is the bringing of a medical malpractice claim.
