Doctors accused of failing to detect stent movement

Occasionally, a person here in Connecticut will have a medical device installed in them. Unfortunately, sometimes, these devices do something that they are not supposed to, such as move from their intended location. This can lead to patients suffering serious injuries, particularly if it goes undetected and unaddressed for an extended period of time. Thus, it is very important for doctors and hospitals to act in a proper manner in relation to the detection of unintended actions or movements of implanted medical devices.

A case involving an alleged failure to detect a medical device movement has arisen in another state, Illinois.

The case involves an esophageal stent that was implanted inside of a man. According to the man, sometime after the stent was installed, it moved. The man has accused a pair of doctors of having negligently failed to diagnose the stent's movement. The man alleges that this failure resulted in the migrated stent perforating his bowel and causing him other harms.

In relation to the alleged failure to diagnose, a medical malpractice lawsuit has been filed by the man and his wife. A hospital and the two above-mentioned doctors are named as defendants in this lawsuit.

A patient's life can be significantly altered by injuries suffered due to a negligent failure to diagnose. A person who has been hurt by such negligence may be able to seek compensation. Thus, contacting a medical malpractice attorney is something a person may wish to do if they suspect that they were subjected to a harmful diagnostic mistake.
