When a patient receives care at a hospital, they expect that the hospital and the medical professionals who work at it will act properly when providing them with care. Unfortunately, occasions sometimes arise in which hospitals and medical professionals do not live up to these expectations. Sometimes, negligence occurs in connection to patient care.
Recently, a case has arisen involving allegations of negligent medical care. The case is from Illinois. The case involves a woman who reportedly received care at the emergency room of a hospital in Illinois in July 2010. Reportedly, the care the woman received regarded an abscess she had on her inner thigh.
The woman claims that negligence occurred during the course of this care. Specifically, the woman alleges that a doctor at the hospital’s emergency room acted negligently while treating the abscess. According to the woman, this alleged negligence resulted in her suffering an infection.
A medical malpractice lawsuit has been brought by the woman in a court in Illinois in connection to the above allegations. The above-mentioned doctor and the above-mentioned hospital have been named as defendants in this lawsuit. It has been reported that damages are being sought in this lawsuit.
Medical negligence, like that alleged in the above-discussed case, can be very harmful to patients. No patient should have to be subjected to negligence at the hands of a medical professional or hospital. Thus, one hopes that all medical professionals and hospitals make sure to avoid acting negligently when providing care to patients.
