Jury Rules in Favor of Patient in Medical Malpractice Case

No patient should have to be subjected to negligent care by a medical professional. When a medical professional commits negligence when it comes to the care of a patient, it can cause the patient to suffer a great deal of harm. Thus, one hopes that all medical professionals make sure to not act negligently when it comes to patient care.

Recently, in Indiana, a verdict was reached in a medical malpractice case that involved allegations of doctor negligence. The case involved a woman from New Albany, Indiana who reportedly received care from a doctor in June of 2003.

The woman claimed that this doctor acted negligently when it came to her care. According to the woman, this alleged negligence led to a delay in her receiving a certain surgical procedure. The woman claimed that she suffered a variety of significant harms as a result of this alleged delay.

The woman brought a lawsuit in Indiana against the doctor in connection to these allegations. A trial was held and the jury in this case recently reached its decision. According to the News and Tribune article which reported this story, the jury ruled in favor of the woman and awarded her a monetary judgment.

As the allegations that were made in this recently-decided medical malpractice case underscore, a great deal of harm can be caused when medical professionals act negligently when it comes to the care of a patient. Thus, one hopes that medical professionals are held accountable when they commit negligence like that alleged in this case.
