Lawsuit Alleges Medication-related Negligence Led to Man’s Death

Patients can suffer great harm when hospitals or medical professionals act negligently in connection to the administration of medications. Sadly, medication-related negligence can sometimes even lead to a patient’s death. Thus, it is very important for medical professionals and hospitals to act properly when administering medications to patients.

Recently, a wrongful death case involving allegations of medication-related negligence has arisen in California. The case involves a man who reportedly received care at a hospital in California in February of 2011. The man’s wife alleges that the man received negligent care while he was at the hospital.

According to the man’s wife, the man’s hospital records and the man’s hospital wristband indicated that he was allergic to the medication Levaquin. The man’s wife alleges that, despite this, the man was given a maximum dose of Levaquin while he was at the hospital. It has been alleged that the man then suffered an allergic reaction. Allegedly, the man died a little over two weeks after being given the Levaquin.

According to the Stockton Record article which reported this story, the man’s wife has brought a wrongful death lawsuit against the above-mentioned hospital in connection to these allegations. It will be interesting to see what happens in this case and how it is ultimately resolved.

No patient should have to lose his or her life because a hospital or medical professional committed medication-related negligence. Thus, one hopes that hospitals and medical professionals are held accountable when they commit negligence like that alleged in the case mentioned above.
