Ringing In the New Year!

As 2019 approaches, whether you’re out on the town or watching the ball drop in your pjs at home, the Wocl Leydon Family would like to wish you a very Happy New Year and to offer some tips to celebrate safely.

  1. If you plan to serve alcohol, be a responsible host, make sure nobody gets behind the wheel of a car.
  2. To pop the champagne cork safely, remember the number 45.  Chill your champagne to at least 45 degrees farenheight. Hold the bottle at a 45-degree angle pointing away from other people.  Once you’ve removed the wire caging, using a towel over the cork, grab the bottle firmly and twist the cork slightly. When you feel the cork begin to release, put a little reverse pressure on the cork to keep the cork from popping up/out.
  3. Have a list of games or activities that don’t involve alcohol.
  4. If you’re staying up until midnight, expect lots of snacking to take place throughout the evening. A well-stocked menu of food and non-alcoholic drinks will keep your guests happy.
  5. When hosting a party in your home, limit guests to people you actually know.
  6. Encourage your guests to choose a designated driver before they arrive.
  7. Fireworks can lead to house fires and injuries. Also, they never mix well with alcohol.
  8. If you’re planning to celebrate with alcohol, decide how you’ll be getting home before your first drink.
  9. Celebrate with friends.
  10.  Charge your phone. Before you head out for the evening, make sure your   phone is fully charged.
  11.  Eat before you go out if you’re not going out for dinner.
  12.  Don’t leave your car parked overnight. New Year’s Day is the top holiday for car thefts.
