Verdict Reached in Medical Malpractice Case Involving Woman’s Death

No patient should have to be subjected to medical negligence. Negligence by medical professionals can be extremely harmful. Such negligence can cause patients to suffer impactful injuries. Such negligence can sometimes even result in a patient’s death.

Recently, a jury reached a verdict in a case that involved allegations of medical malpractice. The case was from Utah. The case involved a woman who received care from a doctor in 2004. This care reportedly included the performance of a surgical procedure. The procedure in question was a laparoscopic surgery and it was performed on Oct. 28, 2004.

It was alleged that the doctor committed negligence during the course of his care of the woman. It was further alleged that this alleged negligence by the doctor led to the woman dying. The woman’s death occurred about two months after she underwent the laparoscopic surgery. The woman was 59 years old at the time of her death.

A lawsuit was brought in a court in Utah against the doctor in connection to the above allegations. A trial was held on this matter. This week, the jury in this case reached its verdict. According to the article on cachevalleydaily.com which reported this story, the jury ruled against the doctor and awarded the plaintiff in this case a large monetary judgment.

As the allegations that were made in this recently decided case underscore, medical negligence can sometimes have fatal results. Thus, one hopes that all medical professionals make sure to not act negligently when caring for patients.
