Veteran’s Day, what does it mean to you? Is it just another holiday when the banks and the government offices are closed or does it mean something more? To many Americans it means a great deal more. It means more because they have lost someone dear and close to them who lost their lives fighting for our freedoms. For others it means more because it is a special day to reflect on the time when they were far away from home giving up time with their families and friends to protect us from enemies both foreign and domestic. And for others it is more because it is a very difficult day as it reminds them of the injuries both mental and physical that they suffered and now must endure everyday as a result of their sacrifice.
Because Veteran’s Day means MORE to so many Americans (and in many cases, to so many of you), the Wocl Leydon Family encourages you to take a moment out of your “busy” life to remember those men and women who mean MORE to you, to someone else or to themselves each day as they live with their injuries. Each of these men and women made the ultimate sacrifice for all of us in order that we might live in a country filled with opportunity and hope.
Unfortunately today our nation is too often confronted with tragedies caused by those who don’t respect or honor the freedom and peace we enjoy as Americans that is created and protected by our nation’s armed forces. They act out of fear, hate and anger. These acts are senseless and cowardly. They are not acts of strength or power. These acts do not represent the freedom and the unity our service men and women have fought so hard for. These acts represent dissidence, dishonor and disrespect. It is important that we do not give them the “attention” that they are seeking and actually thrive on.
It is because of the men and women that we honor today that we are able to not only survive these tragedies, but to rise above them and to grow stronger. These men and women have and will continue to represent our strength, our relentless perseverance and our determination to preserve a nation that is just and good for generations to come.
So today, our family at Wocl Leydon would like to thank all of the men and women who have honored and still honor our nation through their service in our armed services. We want to thank all who continue to serve throughout all branches of our armed services as they fight for us and protect us from the dangers that exist in our world allowing each of us the opportunity to live lives filled with peace and freedom. In honoring all service men and women, we would also like to honor the 3 members of the Wocl Leydon Family who formerly served in the armed forces, including one who proudly served recently in the Desert Shield and Desert Storm efforts.
You make us proud to say that we are Americans.
We are thankful for your service. We are grateful for your sacrifice.
WE HONOR OUR VETERANS ALWAYS. WE REMAIN GRATEFUL FOR YOU.
THANK YOU IS NOT ENOUGH.
YOUR WOCL LEYDON FAMILY
