Woman Brings Lawsuit Alleging Diagnosis-related Negligence

No patient should have to be subjected to diagnosis-related negligence. Such negligence can cause great harm to patients. Thus, it is very important for medical professionals and medical facilities to act properly when it comes to the examining and diagnosing of patients.

Recently, a case involving allegations of diagnosis-related negligence has arisen. The case is from Illinois. The case involves a woman who reportedly received care at a hospital in July 2010.

The woman alleges that negligence occurred during the course of this care and that this alleged negligence caused a delay in a condition she had being diagnosed. She also claims that the alleged negligence resulted in a delay in her receiving proper treatment.

According to the woman, the alleged delays in diagnosis and treatment resulted in her suffering a variety of harms, including:

  • Organ failure
  • Disfigurement
  • Disability
  • Pain

A medical malpractice lawsuit has been brought in a court in Illinois by the woman against the hospital in connection to the above allegations. The woman reportedly is asking for damages in this lawsuit. It will be interesting to see what happens in this case and how it is ultimately resolved.

Negligence like that alleged in this case can be very harmful to patients. Thus, one hopes that medical professionals and medical facilities make sure to avoid engaging in negligence like that alleged in this case. One also hopes that medical professionals and medical facilities are held accountable when they commit diagnosis-related negligence and it results in a patient getting hurt.
