Woman Claims Negligence by Dentist Resulted in Screwdriver Going Into Her Digestive Tract

No patient should have to be subjected to negligence by a health care professional. When a health care professional, like a dentist, acts negligently while providing care to a patient, it can result in the patient suffering a great deal of harm. Thus, it is very important for health care professionals to act properly when it comes to the care of patients.

Recently, a case has arisen in Kentucky involving allegations of dentist negligence. The case involves an elderly woman who received care from a dentist in Kentucky.

The woman alleges that the dentist committed negligence during the course of providing her this care. Specifically, the woman alleges that, while the dentist was providing her with care, he acted negligently in regards to a small implant screwdriver he was using and dropped the screwdriver in her mouth. According to the woman, the screwdriver was then swallowed by reflex and went into her digestive tract.

The woman alleges that she suffered pain as a result of having the screwdriver in her digestive tract and eventually had to undergo a surgery to have the screwdriver removed.

According to the Kentucky.com article which reported this story, a lawsuit has been brought by the woman in a court in Kentucky against the dentist in connection to these allegations. In this lawsuit, the woman is asking for damages.

As the allegations in this case underscore, dentists can cause patients great harm when they act negligently while providing care. Thus, one hopes that all dentists make sure to not commit negligence like that alleged in the above-mentioned case.
