Woman Claims Surgical Sponge Was Left Inside of Her

It is very important for hospitals and medical professionals to not commit negligence which could result in a surgical object being unintentionally left inside of a patient. Left-behind surgical objects can cause patients to suffer a great deal of harm. No patient should have to suffer harm because a medical professional and/or hospital acted negligently.

Recently, a case has arisen in Alabama involving an alleged left-behind surgical object. The case involves a woman who reportedly underwent a cesarean section at an Alabama hospital in 2010.

The woman alleges that she received negligent care in connection to this procedure and that this negligence resulted in a surgical sponge being mistakenly left inside of her. The woman claims that this alleged left-behind surgical sponge caused her to suffer a variety of health problems and caused her to experience a variety of harms including pain and mental anguish.

According to the al.com article which reported this story, the woman has brought a lawsuit against the above-mentioned hospital in connection to these allegations. It will be interesting to see what happens in this case and how it is ultimately resolved.

As the allegations in this case underscore, left-behind surgical objects can cause patients to suffer a great deal of harm. Thus, one hopes that medical professionals and hospitals are held accountable when they negligently leave a surgical object behind in a patient. One also hopes that all medical professionals and hospitals make sure to not act negligently when providing surgical care to a patient.
