About Andrea

Andrea Rueda is currently an undergraduate majoring in legal studies and minoring in justice and law. She is very passionate about social justice and equality. Her passion started growing when she was a young girl. She grew up in Trumbull, Connecticut. Both of her parents are immigrants who came to this country from Colombia and Peru. They both were incredibly hard-working and showed her how to be resilient. She also had the guidance of her great-grandmother that helped shape everything that she does today.

After graduating, she will be continuing her education at the University of Connecticut. She took a year off and used the time wisely; she worked full-time at CommonFund, a company that helps provide investment management services to NGO’s, as a legal assistant. Working there was one of the best decisions she made in terms of her professional development as she learned the importance of teamwork and organization.

She is extremely proud of her leadership experiences, such as being the vice president of diversity, inclusion, and equity for her sorority. Along with her job and internship commitments, she continued attending school on a part-time basis while maintaining her personal integrity and values.

When she is away from work or classes, she enjoys swimming, reading, spending time with her cat (Miso), and networking with other individuals. She strives to inspire others to stand up for things they believe in and grow personally every day. Her dream list includes skydiving in Hawaii, using her knowledge of law to help others, and bringing honor to her family.

Many would describe Andrea as committed, driven, and determined. Her goal is to spend her entire life pursuing her dreams based on kindness, determination, and a sense of purpose.
